What is the system requirements to run the
Portal Module? |

Server Requirements
The Portal Module has been developed to
run exclusively on web sites hosted on Windows
Servers with Internet Information Server 5.0 or
higher and ASP 3.0 Installed. No other Platforms
are supported.
Database Requirements
The Portal Module supports Microsoft
Access database. You don't need to own a license
of MS Access in order to use the access database.
Also, we provide the SQL Server database
generation script for SQL Server 2000\2005 along
with instructions to connect to it. If you don't
have SQL Server 2000, you can use MSDE 2000 which
is a scaled down version of SQL Server 2000 or SQL
Server Express 2005 both free from Microsoft's web
site.
Components
This application supports a 3rd party component to
send auto emails : CDONTS, ASPMail, ASPEmail.
Internet Explorer 6 or higher on a windows based
PC is required to use the full features and system
admin.

as a development language over other languages for
the Portal Module? |

Currently, there are many
development languages with nice features, for
instance PHP, CFM, JSP, and .NET are all powerful
development languages, as good as ASP 3. Hardware
is getting cheaper too, having a 4 CPU server is
now more affordable than ever. There are allot of
debates going on wither to upgrade ASP based
applications to .NET but for us, we honestly see
no great advantage in doing so. As you can see for
yourself that many sites are still not making the
shift to .NET (domain registrar godaddy.com (over
25 Million clients), is
still running on ASP, even Microsoft's official
website has many sections still written in ASP).
We tend to focus more on the flexibility and the
reliability of the application, rather than on
what platform it's running on. Many ASP based
sites reportedly handles huge amounts of traffic
and data exchanges just fine (over three thousand
unique visitors per day is the norm). However, if
a customer requires us to develop a .NET version
of the suite, we are more than happy to help, as a
separate contract.

content that needs updating on a regular bases
yet, should I wait? |

You certainly could, but now
a days your audience expectations aren't the same
as 1999, it
would be smarter to be prepared when an urgent
content update arises and you don't have the heart
to go through hundred lines of html code and
formatting to post it right. Your task of
maintaining something that's running are less time
consuming than getting into the guts of your
posts.

Is there is a limit on the
amount of videos to display in your flash based
FLV player? |

No, you can create as many as
you want, you can control several videos in one player instance. Or combine multiple videos as one stream with the help of a streaming server. You can also include images in
play lists or you can build a play list with HTML.
It supports multiple media video formats
including: FLV (used by YouTube), H.264 and coded MP4.
As for images, it supports JPG and PNG. Audio
support of MP3 is provided. Other formats such as mpg, mov, avi and wmv are also supported but they must first be converted to FLV, or to
H.264 encoding. FLV offers the best video quality in
the smallest file size.

Internet has been around for years, what
makes your Portal Module any different? |

Yes, free portals, with
multiple functions has
been around for years. The only challenge is they
don't come with enough support leaving you
guessing on how you can install it on your server.
In addition, they're mostly protected by the GPL
agreement, forcing you to display their messages
on your website. We offer you full support and
remain with you until you deploy it on your
server. Also, we offer a ticket-based helpdesk in
the members-only section, where you can post your
specific questions regarding customization and
alteration. Developers who built the portal can
help you with that, as they know the code inside
out. As for the product logo, once you buy the
portal module. Its yours to customize. However,
you're not allowed to re-sell our software as it
is to any party without our knowledge.

unzip and upload some files to the web server (BY

Unfortunately no. This
application has been developed to run exclusively
on a Windows Based Server using MS-Access or SQL
Server as the database. No other platforms are
supported.
